You can suspend your vehicle for a period of 1, 2 or 3 years. The suspension ends automatically after the chosen term. Do you want to end the suspension earlier? That is possible at any time, but you will not receive a refund for the remaining period. For example, if you want to suspend your vehicle for 5 months, you choose a suspension period of 1 year and pay the associated costs. After 5 months, you can stop the suspension yourself through our website. A refund for the unused months is unfortunately not possible.

During the suspension, an MOT inspection is not required. However, before the vehicle is put back into use, it must meet the MOT requirements.

Yes, you can sell your vehicle during a suspension. The new owner must cancel or renew the suspension.

Are you extending the suspension from 6 weeks before the end date of the suspension? Then you keep the suspension date plus the extension you chose (1, 2 or 3 years). Are you extending the suspension earlier than 6 weeks before the end date? Then you will receive a new suspension date that starts on the day you arrange the extension, plus the suspension period you chose (1, 2 or 3 years). After the suspension ends: • The insurance obligation may apply again. • Motor vehicle tax may be due. • An MOT may become mandatory. With an extension, your vehicle remains suspended and you avoid unexpected costs or fines.

Yes, if your vehicle is suspended, you can cancel its insurance. During the suspension period, you do not need to insure the vehicle, pay motor vehicle tax, and the MOT inspection is also not mandatory. It is important to contact your insurer immediately after starting the suspension to cancel the insurance. Do not forget that you are not allowed on public roads with a suspended vehicle. When the suspension period expires or when you end the suspension, you must insure the vehicle again and comply with the other obligations.
